Types of poison oak:
There are 3 types of poison oak: shrub, vine, and shoots/sapling. The leaves vary from red to green, some shiny and some slightly less shiny, but the leaves have rounded edges and in groups of three for all types.
How to avoid it:
To avoid getting poison oak: wear long sleeves or pants stay on the trails, don't let your dogs wander off the trail, don't pet dogs while on the trail, and keep an eye out for the above mentioned varieties. If you think you may have gotten poison oak on you, wash your hands and exposed areas immediately with soap and warm water.
Remember: Leaves of three, let it be. If it’s hairy, it’s a berry.
