Mount Pisgah Arboretum
“Our Mission is to engage people with nature through interactive learning and stewardship” - Mount Pisgah Arboretum
Mount Pisgah lies on 209 acres within the Howard Buford Recreation Area. Carefully maintained trails take visitors through different habitats including the oak woodland, oak savannah, and incense cedar forest. Since 1980, Mount Pisgah has participated in outdoor education programs for schoolchildren, which by the late 1980s had reached over 2000 schoolchildren. Each year, elementary school students in our Restoring Connections program will focus on learning about the plants and animals of a particular habitat, with the goals of restoring their connection to their local environment and their sense of place.
